Team inspects on-going works

Under Tirumanimutharu River and Vellakuttai Channel Improvement Scheme |

SALEM: A high level team from Tamil Nadu Urban Development Fund (TNUDF) on Thursday inspected the on-going works under Tirumanimutharu River and Vellakuttai Channel Improvement Scheme, which is being carried out in six packages with the aid from TNUDF III in the city.
Led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer K.Phanindra Reddy and accompanied by Salem Corporation Commissioner Dr.K.S. Palanisamy and TNUDF Assistant vice-president D. Rajendiran, the team went to various points and reviewed the works that are being executed under the combined funding of TNUDF, Salem Corporation and other agencies at a total cost of Rs. 32.82 crore.
The project has three components of which the Tirumanimutharu River Improvement Scheme with four packages is executed at Rs.16.85 crore for a distance of 2.80 km while the Vellakuttai Channel Improvement Scheme with two packages is being executed at Rs. 9.31 crore for a distance of 2.86 km.
Three bridges at a cost of Rs.5.07 crore are also under construction. Of the total length of 5.66 km, work in 2.73 km has been completed at Rs.18.40 crore.
The team also inspected the preliminary works of Under Ground Drainage Scheme and Dedicated Water Supply Scheme for Salem city, which TNUDF III is funding. Salem Corporation SE K.Balasubramanian and EEs S.Venkatesh and N.Natarajan accompanied the team.
