Minister opens three fair price shops in 15 Velampalayam Municipality
Tirupur: Minister for Highways and Minor Ports M. P. Saminathan inaugurated three new fair price shops (FPS) set up at Thilagar Nagar, Chamundipuram (South) and Velampalayam (East), all under 15 Velampalayam Municipality limits, on Saturday.
District Supply Officer O. Raman Pillai said that the shops were constituted by bifurcating few shops in the region which had more than 2,000 card holders under its fold.
“The shop opened at Thilagar Nagar have 1,205 card holders under its control, Chamundipuram (South) shop have 1,517 consumers and Velampalayam (East) ration shop have 906 card holders,” he added. Official sources added that 11 more fair price shops in the district which had more than 2,000 card holders under its fold, would be bifurcated soon. Later, Minister Saminathan distributed LGP connections and free stove to 511 beneficiaries hailing from Ranganathapuram, Sirupooluvapatti and Solipalayam hamlets.
