TIRUNELVELI: Following complaints from the public, the Corporation personnel removed encroachments at Gandhi Market, Palayamkottai on Monday. Since some of the traders were stocking rice bags, vegetables baskets and other commodities on the passage in front their shops, it badly hampered the free movement of the buyers visiting the market. After receiving complaints in this regard, Commissioner N. Subbaiyan ordered the removal of encroachments. Subsequently a group of corporation personnel removed the materials kept in front of the shops, triggering altercation between the traders and the officials. However, the unyielding officials removed the encroachments despite stiff resistance by the traders.
