Encroachments removed

The municipality embarked upon a massive encroachment removal campaign on Monday. Encroachments from Railway station up to Karanthai along Gandhiji road were removed. According to officials, the drive will continue till September 14. A schedule has been drawn for clearing encroachments in the four raja veedhis (main streets of the town), Mary's corner, Medical College road, Tholkkappiar Sadukkam, old housing unit and new housing unit.

Savithiri Gopal, chairperson, said that the clearing of encroachments will widen the roads. She appealed to traders and people to co-operate with the move.
