Exercise in Tuticorin to remove encroachments

Unlawful: Corporation workers removing the encroachments at VVD Road in Tuticorin.
Tuticorin: As many as 75 ‘projections’ of commercial establishments, which had encroached upon, were removed during an eviction drive here on Thursday. The drive commenced from the VVD Junction and continued up to the KVK Nagar Road Bridge.
The drive was held on Wednesday on Tiruchendur Road and Devarpuram Road where in a couple of tiled houses and some encroached projections of establishments were removed. At Cruzpuram about 14 encroachment sites were identified and evicted.
A team of officials from the Corporation led by the Senior Town Planning Officer, S.M. Rakkappan, carried out the eviction drive amidst tight security.
The drive would continue in the areas of VE Road on Friday.
