Construction works on at Erode bus stand

In progress:Works for the construction of a parking area for buses and an underground parking facility are on at the Erode bus stand.
ERODE: The construction of an additional parking area for buses, an underground parking facility for two-wheelers and a shopping complex at the Erode bus stand is progressing steadily.
Access
The Erode Corporation has taken up these works as the number of people accessing the bus stand had gone up sharply in the recent past.
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation is operating buses to almost all the important locations in the State and other States including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala from here.
Congested
The existing parking bays in the bus stand are fully occupied and people find it more congested particularly during the peak hours and weekends.
More space
As a result, the Corporation decided to construct an additional parking area without bays.
“This will ensure more space for parking. This additional space is likely to be allocated for the town buses and the mini buses,” Corporation sources said.
Apart from the additional parking space, the Corporation is also constructing an underground parking facility for two-wheelers and a multi-level shopping complex with more public convenience facilities.
The civic administration allotted funds for these works from the one-time grant received from the State Government for various development projects.
The Corporation had taken steps to speed up the construction and complete the works quickly.
