Stalin to inaugurate buildings, launch schemes

Samathuvapuram at Tharuvaikulam to be inaugurated


For the final run:The flyover at Vannarpettai junction in Palayamkottai to be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

TIRUNELVELI: Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who is scheduled to visit the district on August 6 and 7, will inaugurate completed projects, lay foundation stone for new schemes and distribute assistance, all worth about Rs. 202.69 crore.

“After inaugurating the flyover, constructed on an outlay of Rs. 18 crore, at Vannarpet intersection on August 6 at 9 a.m., he will lay foundation stone for an over-bridge to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 crore at Kulavanigarpuram manned railway crossing in a function to be held at Ambasamudram around 10 a.m.,” District Collector M. Jayaraman told reporters here on Tuesday.

In the function to be held at Ambasamudram, Mr. Stalin will inaugurate 354 works including Vickramasingapuram – Manimuthar Drinking Water Scheme and 110 KV sub-station at Ambasamudram, executed on an outlay of Rs. 47.89 crore, lay foundation stone for 40 new projects to be implemented at a cost of Rs. 55.50 crore and disburse assistance to the tune of Rs. 19.98 crore to nearly 2,000 self-help groups.

In a function to be held at Kadayanallur in the evening, he will inaugurate 73 works including additional buildings at Tenkasi and Shencottai Government Hospitals and bio-fertilizer manufacturing unit at Tenkasi, implemented at a cost of Rs. 39.22 crore, lay foundation stone for 66 works to be taken up on an outlay of Rs. 20.66 crore and handover assistance to the tune of Rs. 90 lakh to 1,654 pregnant women under Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Assistance Scheme.

On the second day (August 7), the Deputy Chief Minister will inaugurate a ‘samathuvapuram' at North Ariyanayagipuram near Sankarankovil and open the Sankarankovil taluk office building along with 26 other buildings, all constructed at the cost of Rs. 10.24 crore. He will also lay foundation stone for ten works to be executed on an outlay of Rs. 2.95 crore while 4,420 beneficiaries will receive assistance to the tune of Rs. 5.34 crore from Mr. Stalin. “The government is also likely to give nod for the construction of a hostel at Kadayanallur, exclusively for the minority students,” Dr. Jayaraman informed.

Tuticorin

The district administration is gearing up with all preparatory works ahead of the Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's visit to Tuticorin on August 5 (Thursday) for the inauguration of several developmental schemes and projects. Periyar Ninaivu Samathuvapuram at Tharuvaikulam would be inaugurated.

The samathuvapuram was built incorporating all facilities including housing for as many as hundred beneficiaries, drinking water, over head tanks, black top roads and a children's park at an expenditure of Rs. 232.55 lakh, Collector G. Prakash said.

Besides, he would be laying the foundation stone for a total of 3,197 development works at an estimated cost of Rs. 105.07 crore.

Another 1,196 completed development works to the tune of Rs. 53.79 crore would also be inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister.

Moreover, housing facilities for 941 tsunami victims were established at Maapilaioorani, C.K. Veeranan, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency, said.

Financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 17.8 crore would also be extended to as many as 14, 483 individual beneficiaries on the occasion by the Deputy Chief Minister.
