Drainage work to be speeded up

Syed Muthahar Saqaf

PUDUKOTTAI: The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board has chalked out a comprehensive plan for the expeditious execution of the underground drainage project by March 2011.

The plan divides the town into two major zones for easy execution.

The sewage of both the zones through 14,520 house service connections (HSCs) and 5,407 manholes will be pumped through a cumulative length of 147.92 km. before being collected at the pumping station.

The collected sewage will be treated at the plant coming up at Maruppini Grass Farm and the effluent will be released into the Gundar river.
