Park at Thillai Nagar to be opened soon

A new park coming up to the rear of the Fort Railway Station at Thillai Nagar in the city is expected to be opened soon.The park would be declared open once the public toilets inside the park are ready, Mayor A.Jaya said after inspecting the progress of works on the project on Wednesday.
Landscape gardens
The park being established at a cost of Rs.25 lakhs would have a walking track, landscaped gardens and children play equipment.
Earlier, the Mayor during an inspection of development works in Ariyamangalam zone held consultations with Corporation Commissioner V.P.Thandapani and other officials on the construction of the proposed commercial complex with parking lot near the Diamond Jubilee building of the Gandhi Market.
Safety equipment
She also inspected the safety equipment purchased by the Corporation for its sanitary workers. While the Corporation has ordered safety gear worth Rs.18 lakhs for the sanitary workers, the first consignment of the equipment worth Rs.2 lakhs has arrived in the city.
A portion of the equipment has already been distributed to sanitary workers in the five new wards added to the Corporation following the delimitation exercise. The safety gear would be supplied to all sanitary workers in the city soon, she said.
