Bus stand for Thiruthangal soon
Residents of Thiruthangal, who have been dreaming for a bus stand of their own for the last 25 years, are likely to get one within a year. Though it has been upgraded as a municipality, Thiruthangal has remained a transit point. Efforts made by Minister for Information and Special Programme Implementation K.T. Rajendhira Balaji, Municipal Chairman Dhanalakshmi Ganesan, and Vice-Chairman P. Sakthivel have started yielding results.
An area of 1.5 acres on Sivakasi-Virudhunagar Main Road has been identified and it has been planned to construct the bus stand at a cost of Rs. 3.69 crore. The municipality is expected to share the expenditure and contribute a sum of Rs. 40 lakh while the rest is likely to be received from the State Government. Tenders will be floated in about two weeks and a gala function is proposed by this month end.
