TIRUCHI: Residential areas served by the Golden Rock Combined Drinking Water Supply Scheme would get restricted drinking water supply on Thursday and Friday owing to a repair in the power transformer and cables at the pumping station situated near the Ayyalamman Padithurai on the Cauvery River.
Corporation Commissioner T.T.Balsamy, in a release, said the quantum of supply under the scheme has come down owing to the problem. Consequently, supply would be lesser than usual in Ariyamangalam, Melakalkandarkottai, Ponneripuram, Senthaneeerpuram, Sangiliandapuram, Ponmalaipatti, Central Prison, Subramaniapuram, Airport, Sembattu, Kallukuzhi, Khaja Nagar, Khajamalai, Krishnamurthy Nagar, Thondaiman Colony, Anbu Nagar and Crawford over the next couple of days. He appealed to the residents of the areas to use drinking water sparingly.
According to Corporation sources, pumping of water from the bore wells of the scheme has come down to 12 million litres a day (MLD) against the normal 19 MLD. Currently, water is being pumped using a 320 KVA generator.
