Councillors express concern over poor water supply in all wards
Chairman promises to look into the issue.
Cutting across party lines, the councillors representing AIADMK DMK and BJP expressed their concern over the drinking water scarcity in their wards in Hosur Municipality on Thursday.
Nagarajan (BJP) of Therpettai said that water was not supplied for the last three weeks.
Chairman of the Municipality P. Balakrishna Reddy said the problem would be sorted out as early as possible.
Mr. Reddy also assured the members that the pot holes on main and interior roads would be filled up, as the works on Underground Drainage Scheme was taken up by the TWAD Board. After finishing the UGD work, the roads would be laid, he said.
The chairman said priority would be given to mitigate the drinking water problem prevailing in the municipal limits. Over 420 bore wells, including 100 bore wells dug recently was not suffice to meet the growing needs. Hence, it was proposed to dig over 30 bore wells soon.
Another councillor L.S. Sijukrishnan of ward No. 34 at Neelamagam Nagar said that street lights in his ward were not working for the past nine months.
When some members complained that over 90 public parks within the municipal limits were misused by antisocial elements, Mr. Reddy appealed to the councillors to support the government by way of collecting
One-third cost for developing the parks, and the rest two third would be borne by the government under the Self Sufficiency Scheme.
Soon after the council meeting started, three members of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam walked out of the meeting to show their protest against the suspension of the party MLAs from the State assembly.
