Inspiration to create civic awareness
BANGALORE: In a bid to spread awareness on civic and environmental issues among school children, the Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA) is organising INSPIRATION-2010 – a civic fest and exhibition on August 6.The event at St Joseph’s Indian High School is being organised to mark the 11th year of the CMCA’s activities involving young minds. INSPIRATION 2010 is aimed at helping the civic club members to understand various civic and environmental issues that affect our world.
Children from various schools in the city will take part in various games and chalk out programmes for the coming days.
Exhibition stalls will provide an in-depth knowledge about issues like rain water harvesting, solid waste management, urban greenery, apart from educating children about their rights and responsibilities as active citizens.
“We are expecting over 1,000 children from 46 private schools across the city this year. Members of the civic clubs will be given a clear picture about the forthcoming activities,” says Priya Krishnamurthy, associate national coordinator, CMCA.
CMCA is also organising a half-an-hour programme, Chain of Awareness on the occasion. The human chain will be formed to create awareness on child labour and children’s right to free and compulsory education. The children carrying placards and banners will form the chain on footpaths of Grant Road and Vittal Mallya Road.
