Jagadish Shettar to get civic reception
The Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation general body on
Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution to give a civic reception to
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar here.
All members
expressed support for the proposal presented at the HDMC’s special
general body meeting here. Mayor Pandurang Patil said that as the region
was facing drought, the civic reception would be simple.
The date of the civic reception would fixed after hearing from Mr. Shettar, he said.
Some
of the suggestions that came up at the meeting included allowing all
members to sit on the dais, taking a group photograph, decorating the
twin cities and releasing a souvenir to mark the occasion.
Funds to be sought
Leader
of the House Prakash Godbole moved a proposal to seek Rs. 500 crore
from the State government, to take up development works to commemorate
the HDMC’s golden jubilee.
Mr. Patil instructed the councillors to give the list of works required to be implemented in their wards within three days.
Expansion
of 24 x 7 water supply project to all wards, construction of a flyover,
development of markets, income generation schemes, and funds for each
ward were some of the suggestions for inclusion in the proposal to be
submitted to the State government.
