NAGPUR: Sanjeev Jaiswal, an IAS officer of 1996 batch, will take over as the new Nagpur municipal commissioner. Jaiswal will replace Aseem Gupta who has been transferred as additional municipal commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Jaiswal, who was Aurangabad collector prior to his transfer to Nagpur, hails from Kolkata. He will take charge in the last week of May. Jaiswal said that he has been asked to conduct the UPSC examinations scheduled for May 23.
“I will be relieved only after the exams are over.” Jaiswal was also the collector of Chandrapur before his stint at Aurangabad. Both Jaiswal and Gupta were transferred to Nagpur from Aurangabad.
Gupta served as Aurangabad civic chief before taking over Nagpur municipal commissioner in June 2008. Gupta told TOI, “I will handover the charge to additional municipal commissioner Vishnupad Bute on Tuesday and will join BMC in the coming days.”
