Jajpur civic body chief withdraws writ

CUTTACK: Jajpur civic body Chief Geetarani Behera on Wednesday withdrew her petition in Orissa High Court.
The beleaguered chairperson of Jajpur municipality after having lost to no-confidence motion in the Council last week had managed to obtain an interim stay from Orissa High Court on the operation of the motion that was passed against her on October 19. But on Tuesday during the hearing of the case, it was ascertained that Geetarani had resorted to tampering of documents to obtain a favourable order. She was asked by the bench of Chief Justice V Gopalgowda and Indrajit Mahanty to remain present in the court personally to present her case.
Appearing in the court, Geetarani tendered an unconditional apology and withdrew her petition in which she had challenged the ‘no confidence’ motion moved against her in the Council.
