Jindal ITF gets solid waste management award
Jindal Infrastructure, Transportation and Fabrication
(ITF), part of the $18 billion O.P. Jindal Group has bagged the award
for excellence in Solid Waste Management 2013 in the best companies
category.
The award was launched in 2010 along with
the international symposium on solid waste management. In the first
edition, two categories were introduced — ‘company’ and municipal body’
— to recognise outstanding achievements. A new category ‘NGO’ was
added in the second edition.
Jindal ITF Managing
Director Indresh Batra said solutions are needed to manage the growing
problem of municipal solid waste faced by burgeoning metropolises and
towns. Innovative, scientific and sustainable solutions such as waste to
power as implemented in the Timarpur Okhla plant in Delhi is an
example.
The Timarpur Okhla Waste Management project
is CDM registered with the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change for earning carbon credits.
