JNNURM report on March 14, says Minister
Minister for Medical Education and district in-charge S.A. Ramdas on
Wednesday announced that a comprehensive report on the status of ongoing
and completed works under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal
Mission (JNNURM) in Mysore would be released on March 14.
Addressing presspersons after chairing a meeting with
officials of the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) and the those monitoring
the JNNURM here, the Minister said details of the works implemented so
far and the funds utilised would be collected at the meeting.
Inspection
Elected representatives, corporators and representatives
from non-governmental organisations would be invited to the meeting, he
said.
“Prior to the meeting, I will conduct a inspection to
get first-hand information on the progress achieved so far. Steps will
be taken to expedite the pending works,” he said.
Special grant
Mr. Ramdas also reviewed the progress of projects here
under the Chief Minister’s Rs. 100-crore special grant released to the
MCC.
The proposals had been examined and the works would be launched after some modifications to the plan, he added.
Raja Marga
Under the revised plan, the work on establishing a Raja
Marga (on Jamboo Savari route) at a cost of Rs. 16 crore will be taken
up till the Government Ayurveda College Circle on Sayyaji Rao Road.
Instructions had been given to the officials to complete the project by
next Dasara.
The special grant would be used to restore ‘garadis’
(gyms) and nine gymnasiums would be revived, Mr. Ramdas said.Of the
three subways proposed under the special grant, work on one had been
dropped. However, permission had been granted for the construction of a
subway in front of Tathaiah Park (connecting the city bus-stand) and
another near the Mysore zoo (connecting the zoo from the parking zone).
Mr. Ramdas said work on developing Curzon Park, Kuppanna
Park and Subbarayanakere would be completed by April 30 and the vacant
space along the road adjoining Karanji Lake Nature Park would be
developed into a park.
Drinking water
Works on drinking water supply, including the repair of storage reservoir at Vijayanagar, would be done on priority.
By March 2012, additional 12 MGD will be added to the supply line by completing a project here.
The Minister said a meeting of elected representatives
would be convened on March 12 to ensure that there was no delay in
making use of grants sanctioned to the city by the Chief Minister.
Undabatti Lake
The work on erecting steel barriers along Undabatti Lake
on the Mysore-Nanjangud road would begin soon, Mr. Ramdas said, adding
that Rs. 1.45 crore had been set aside for the job.
