Karnataka govt releases Rs 40 cr to mitigate drinking water shortage

Karnataka government today released Rs 40 crore to local bodies to take measures to mitigate drinking water scarcity.
This
is in addition to Rs 18.72 crore already available in the Department
for such activities, Minister for Municipalities and Local Bodies,
Qamarul Islam told reporters here.
The grant would be utilised
for deepening and cleaning of borewells, repair of water supply lines
and, if necessary, for digging new borewells and installation of motor
pumps,he said.
