KMC to construct 300 houses for slum dwellers
Kolkata, 18 January – Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is to construct houses for the slum dwellers at Bagbazar with assistance from the Centre.
Around 300 houses will be built behind the residence of Sarada Devi
located at 656, Rabindra Sarani. The civic authorities have decided to
name the project after Sarada Devi. The site falls under ward number 7.
The project will come up on 1.25 acres, under the Rajiv Awas Yojana and
over 268 families would be accommodated in the cluster of houses. KMC
also has a plan to set up a community hall, a health centre and a
library at the site for the benefit of the slum dwellers.
