Kolhapur city expansion opposed
While Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) is demanding
expansion of city limits as per corporation rules and statutory
provisions, the surrounding 42 villages have opposed the move. The zilla
parishad has passed a resolution against the merger of the villages
into the corporation. When asked about the merger, Deputy Chief Minister
Ajit Pawar said on Sunday the issue was under the Ministry of Urban
Development, which is headed by Chief Minister Prithiviraj Chavan. The
city expansion would change the limit of Assembly constituencies.
