HYDERABAD: The newly-elected corporators of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will undergo a two-day orientation camp on good governance, learn the nuances of the role of a corporator and the numerous rules involved in the Municipal Act.
The training programme, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Thursday, will expose first time corporators to video presentations, best municipal practices implemented in other cities, train them on how to prepare themselves for implementing centrally funded programmes like JNNURM.
“Such orientation camps are very important for newly elected corporators. Such sessions help increase the awareness levels and throw light on the ways to lead a public life,” said Mr. K. Rosaiah. Elected representatives from various States have attended to our training sessions,” informed ASCI Director Srinivas Chary.
Mr. Rosaiah also released the course material, which has been printed in English, Telugu and Hindi. Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), Anam Vivekananda Reddy, Principal Secretary (MAUD), P.S.
