LMC plans a call centre
A Delhi based organisation had been contacted for setting up a call centre in the city. The organisation thus made a representation before the senior officials of the department of urban development.
Under the scheme of things, the company has asked for a significant contribution from the state government and the municipal corporation in terms of infrastructure, which would help it to route the complaints to the respective municipal officials.
Initial review has projected an investment of Rs 2 crore. Sources said that the LMC expressed its reservations on the said investment. It was therefore, decided that the various associated departments would be providing the possible infrastructure.
The LMC, however, has agreed to pay a sum of Rs 26,000 per month to the agency for routing the complaints to the civic officials. Once finalised, the agency would set up a call centre, which can be called up at a toll-free number.
