LUCKNOW: You may no longer be required to go to Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) head office in Lalbagh to get a birth or death certificate. Instead, the certificates would be issued by the six zonal offices of the corporation in the city.

Municipal commissioner Shailesh Kumar Singh on Tuesday delegated powers to the zonal officers to issue birth and death certificates to ease out the growing crowd at the LMC head office.

The move comes within days of municipal corporation decision to link all the zonal offices with the main office online. Though the zonal offices are yet to be linked with each other, the municipal top brass decided to empower the zonal officers in the first phase. Municipal sources said initially the certificates would be issued manually.
