Local body election results just a click away
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The public can access updates and the results of the local body elections on the website www.trend.kerala.gov.in, State Election Commissioner K Kamalkutty said here on Monday.He said that extensive arrangements have been made to publicise the results via the media.
The results of the corporations and the municipalities, where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are to be used, are expected to be out by October 27 afternoon, the counting day.
The results of the three-tier panchayats, where ballot papers will be used, will be late. According to the SEC estimate, the final picture in the panchayats will be available, at the earliest, by 2 a.m. on October 28.
Seven districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, will go to polls on October 23 and the remaining districts on October 25.
Counting of votes will begin at 8 a.m. in 216 centres across the State on October 27.
In Kozhikode district, the votes will be counted on October 31, as the Vellam grama panchayat will go to polling booths only on October 30.
The elected members will assume office on November 1 across the state. Approximately 2,500 EVMs will be used in the corporations and municipalities on the voting day.
The panchayats will use 74,548 ballot boxes. 70,915 candidates are contesting in 21,595 wards in various local bodies. As many as 3218 wards have been identified as sensitive, Kamalkutty said.
