Lokesh Kumar re-elected as C B Pur CMC president

C A Lokesh Kumar was elected unopposed as the President of City Municipal Council for the second term on Thursday. Manjula was elected as the vice-president.
The post of the president was reserved for General category and that of the vice-president was reserved for a Scheduled Tribe Woman, during the current elections.
Golden opportunity
Having served as president of the Council for two months till here, Lokesh said that this was an opportunity for him to fulfill all projects that he had started working on during the last term.
Road-widening, street lamps, Jakkalamadagu and other projects would be completed by the end of the year. The mutton market would be constructed at the cost of Rs one crore.
Greater importance will be given to maintaining sanitation and cleanliness. Several public welfare projects will be implemented, added Kumar.
Planning Director of District Welfare Fund G V Seenappa was the Returning Officer. CMC Commissioner Umakant was present on the occasion.
There was a commotion when vice-president’s chair was being shifted to Assistant Executive Engineer’s room from the presidents room. Former president Prakash, Bhaskar and few women members staged a protest opposing this movement.
A verbal dual ensued when Commissioner Umakant interfered and offered to vacate his room.
Later the protesters agreed to his proposal and withdrew the protest.
Moily congratulates
Union Minister M Veerappa Moily congratulated the Congress members elected for the Gudibande Town Municipal Council, Bagepalli and Gauribidanur City Municipal Council. District Unit President M Anjinappa said Congress candidates had been elected to four local government bodies. He thanked all members who helped win the polls and said all four members strive the people.
