Lokhande is head of weaker sections committee of NMC
NAGPUR: Leader of BRP-Bahujan Mahasangh Raju Lokhande was appointed as the chairman of weaker sections committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation for 2010-11on Monday.
Mayor Archana Dehankar appointed Lokhande, who is a corporator from Rambagh ward. Other independent corporators who are part of Nagpur Vikas Aghadi have been appointed as members of WSC.
They are Anita Wankhede, Shashikala Wade, Rupesh Meshram, Sandhya Makode, Ganesh Doifode, Rajesh Mate and Devendra Waghmare.
Speaking to TOI, outgoing chairman of WSC Sandeep Gavai, said, “During my tenure 2009-10 around Rs 12 crore was allocated from special fund for development works in slums and others localities where people of weaker section stayed.”
