Long-pending civic work set on fast track
BANGALORE: With BBMP setting a new deadline, the much-delayed civic projects in your neighbourhood might see some quick action. December 25 is the deadline set for completion of spillover works in the city, failing which contractors responsible will be blacklisted.
At an inspection on Monday, chairman of BBMP’s standing committee on ward-level works L Srinivas directed engineers and contractors to complete pending projects before the deadline and ongoing ones by March-end next year. The sight of 11 kv electric wires on Castle Street near Ashok Nagar infuriated the standing committee. “Bescom officials must take necessary steps to fix the matter,” Srinivas said.
“The tenders were called a year ago but work has been delayed, all due to negligence of officials and contractors,” said Vannarpet corporator S Vijayan.
