Master plan to make proper use of river waters likely
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra
on Thursday said that the government is mulling formulating a master
plan to utilise properly the State’s share of water in various rivers.
Addressing
a news conference here, he said that the proposed master plan would
include river waters allotted to the State and use of water
for irrigation and drinking purposes.
The State has been allocated 23 tmcft of water in the Godavari and that water is yet to be utilised.
The
government would in two months decide whether to engage new advocates
in the Supreme Court in connection with various river waters dispute.
The Opposition
parties would be taken into confidence as far as disputes over sharing
of the Cauvery, the Krishna and the Godavari waters is concerned, he
said.
Public prosecutors
He
said that 60 public prosecutors were working in the State and the
performance of many of them was not up to the mark. A major change
was required and new professionals would be appointed.
