Mayor, Deputy Mayor election on September 4
The election for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor
will be held on September 4, according to a notification issued by the
Regional Commissioner here on Thursday.
The election
to the 12 standing committees will also be held on the same day at 1
p.m. The BBMP’s council section has been directed to issue a meeting
notice to all councillors as per Section 71 of the Karnataka Municipal
Corporations Act, 1976.
According to the
notification, nominations will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
While the post of Mayor has been reserved for general category, the post
of Deputy Mayor has been reserved for Scheduled Tribe (woman) category.
The term of the incumbent Mayor and Deputy Mayor ended in April, 2013.
