Mayor, Deputy Mayor elections today

Thiruvananthapuram: Nandancode ward councillor Leelamma Isaac of the Congress will be the UDF nominee for the election to the post of Mayor in the City Corporation Council on Tuesday.
A meeting of UDF councillors here on Monday decided to field Thampanoor ward councillor R. Harikumar in the election to the post of Deputy Mayor.
District Congress Committee president V.S. Sivakumar presided over the meeting.
In another meeting held later in the day, Nalanchira ward councillor Johnson Joseph was elected parliamentary party leader of the Congress party. Mr. Harikumar was elected deputy leader.
K. Sureshkumar was elected party whip, Sasthamangalam Gopan secretary and Vanaja Rajendra Babu as treasurer. S. Sreekumar and Tony Oliver will be the joint-secretaries of the parliamentary party. Party leaders K. Mohankumar, Thampanoor Ravi, Palode Ravi, George Mercier, MLA, and DCC office-bearers were present.
