Mayor gets tough with zonal chiefs
JAIPUR: The eight zonal commissioners will be responsible to keep the city neat and clean and also keep a tab on illegal construction.
Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal on Monday issued the diktat after a day-long meeting. Mayor agreed that conniving officials aide unscrupulous promoters and their projects.
Khandewal also turned the heat on the officials and said extreme steps will be taken against erring staff.
“Officials have to perform or perish. I do not want any complaints of garbage rotting in the depots and illegal constructions. In such cases, the officials may even lose their jobs,” said the mayor.
Now the zonal commissioners are supposed to send their daily progress report on garbage lifting, cleaning of streets to the CEO and the mayor.
“I have asked them not to pass on the buck to subordinates. They need to co-ordinate with other wings of the JMC,” she added.
