Mayor K Chandrika distributed pushcarts for street vendors as part of
the Suvidha project at a function held near Museum gate on Tuesday.
Seven vendors received the carts on Tuesday as part of the pilot phase
of the street vendor rehabilitation project.
They have been
registered and on yearly basis, licence fee will be levied from these
vendors. “For a week, the pros and cons after distributing the carts
will be assessed. Then, order for making 50 more carts will be given.
Before March end, the project is expected to be rolled out fully,” said
Welfare Standing Committee chairman Palayam Rajan.

Muraleedharan MLA was the chief guest at the programme. Works Standing
Committee chairman V S Padmakumar presided over. Palayam Rajan welcomed
the gathering.

Pushpalatha, Development Standing Committee chairperson Shajida Nazar,
Town Planning Standing Committee chairperson Vanaja Rajendrababu, Tax
Appeal Standing Committee chairman P Syamkumar and Education and Sports
Standing Committee chairperson K S Sheela were also present.
