Mayor sets deadline for works
Mayor Majid Hussain on Wednesday ordered all the Zonal
Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to complete road repairs and
recarpeting in a week’s time and all other sanctioned works in 10 days.
About
300 stretches were identified for recarpeting works at an estimated
cost of Rs. 4 crore. Works not grounded within the stipulated time will
be cancelled and short tenders will be called after debarring the
contractor concerned, he told presspersons after the standing committee
meeting.
He also stated that a special meeting will
be held to be attended by the Commissioner, floor leaders and standing
committee members tomorrow to review the arrangements for the Ganesh
Chathurthi festival.
The committee, which was meeting
after a considerable period, has also approved a host of works and
these include a detailed project report for Riverfront development of
Musi River from Bapughat to Nagole Bridge for an extent of 21.5 km
covering flood protection walls and other works to be submitted to the
Union Government under the National River Conservation Plan.
The
Rs.12.71 crore e-governance project, Rs.3.20 crore approved towards
construction of service roads and junction improvement at the road over
bridge between KPHB and Hi-Tec City junction, feasibility study for
building a skywalk from Rathifile bus station to Secunderabad station on
the median were also approved.
Other works cleared
were laying water supply lines for 31 colonies in L.B.Nagar where the
municipal corporation will provide 70 per cent funding or Rs.32 lakh,
removing water hyacinth of R.K. Puram Lake and Shatam Tank at
Tolichowki, storm water drain repairs and road works .
TDP protests
Earlier,
TDP corporators led by its floor leader Singireddy Srinivas Reddy
protested before the Mayor’s chambers over the poor civic conditions in
the twin cities, inundations, collapsing storm water drains and so on.
