Sore over Standing Committee meetings being given a miss |
HYDERABAD: Mayor B. Kartika Reddy came out in the open against the GHMC officials and regretted that the Standing Committee resolutions were not being implemented.
Talking to presspersons on Wednesday after the weekly meeting, she pointed out that key resolutions like building exclusive structures for women in all divisions, night shelters for the destitute, laying rain water harvesting pits in parks and playgrounds were being ignored.
“Senior officials including Commissioner Sameer Sharma are not bothering to attend the Standing Committee meetings, which are an insult to the members,” she fumed. The issue would be taken up in the right quarters and such a lackadaisical attitude would not be tolerated, she maintained.
The Mayor observed that coordination was lacking among different departments in the municipal corporation in taking up civic works and despite it being brought to the notice of the senior officials, nothing was being done.
Several corporators have also been complaining about officials not responding properly to the ward-level problems, she charged. Meanwhile, the committee had approved a proposal to ban plastic bags in major parks from November 14 and in all colony parks from January 1, 2011.
