Mayor vows to make Berhampur child-friendly city
During observation of the World Habitat Day on Monday,
the newly-elected Mayor of the city K. Madhavi promised to make
Berhampur a child-friendly city.
A philanthropic
youth organisation of the city had organised a function to observe the
day. Citizen representatives from different parts of the city including
women and children had gathered to interact with the Mayor regarding the
problems and issues related to their habitat in the city. A large
number of persons from slums of the city also attended .
Addressing
the gathering, the first woman Mayor of the city accepted that
Berhampur, which was one of the oldest cities in the State, was facing
problems of unplanned growth and slums. According to her, the children
should not get deprived of their basic needs.
Citizen representatives interact with the Mayor regarding the problems and issues related to their habitat.
