Mayor warns shopkeepers at K.R. Market against littering

Huge mounds of garbage, dirty toilets, freely roaming
cattle and encroached pathways… these issues at K.R. Market irked
Mayor B.S. Sathyanarayana.
He was in the market, as
part of his weekly intensive cleaning drive, on Monday. Around 1,000
students and teachers from Krishna International College participated.
They were divided into 20 teams — each team had 50 students who assisted
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s gangmen and pourakarmikas. Last
week, students of APS College participated.
Noticing
the rotting fruits, vegetables and flowers in the market’s ground floor,
he warned the shopkeepers against throwing the waste outside.
He also warned them against encroaching public spaces in the market.
Salem visit
City
in-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Mr. Satyanarayana and BBMP
councillors will visit Hanjir Biotech plant in Salem on Wednesday. The
company will be establishing a similar plant in Rajarajeshwarinagar
where the BBMP has already allotted 15 acres of land. This will help the
BBMP tackle the solid waste problem to a certain extent, he added.
