Mayors, Dy Mayors get hike
BANGALORE: The state government has increased the monthly honorarium of mayors and deputy mayors of all corporations, except Bangalore, and that of the presidents, vice presidents and members of CMCs and TMCs, urban development minister S Suresh Kumar has said.In a press release on Thursday, Suresh Kumar said the demand for increase in the honorarium was pending for a long time which was positively considered by the government recently. “An order has been issued on August 31 and the enhanced honorarium will come into force with immediate effect,” he said.
As per the new order, the honorarium of Mayor (of other corporations except Bangalore city) is `8,000 and that of deputy mayor is `5,000.
Similarly, the honorarium of the members (corporators) has also been increased to Rs 3000.
Along with this, the honorarium for chairmen of the standing committees has been fixed at Rs 200 per month.
According to Suresh Kumar, the presidents of the city municipal councils (CMCs) would get `6000 as honorarium, whereas the vice presidents are entitled for `4,000 and the members would get Rs 2000.
For CMC, TMC chiefs too
This is applicable to those CMCs which have an annual income of more than `5 crore.
“The presidents of CMCs which have an annual income of Rs 5 crore are entitled for Rs 4000 as honorarium where as the vice presidents of such CMCs would get Rs 2000 and the members Rs 1000,” the press release stated.
The honorarium for presidents of town municipal councils (TMCs) is Rs 2400 whereas the vice president would get Rs 1200 and the members are entitled for `600.
Similarly, the presidents of Town Panchayats would get `1600, where as the vice president are entitled for `800 and members `400.
