MC prepares to give civic amenities to Deep Complex
After a debate raging for the past few years about providing civic
amenities to the residents of Deep Complex at Hallomajra, the estimates
for the same have been prepared. These will be brought up for discussion
in the meeting of the general house of the Municipal Corporation
scheduled for April 30.
The area will be provided with water supply and sewerage
connections. The pipelines for these will be laid. The estimates will be
placed before the house for discussion and approval.
Deep Complex is an illegal colony and with a lack of checks, over
the years, a large number of houses have developed in it, with a
substantial population now living there. Before the last Lok Sabha
elections, the area was regularized. However, soon after, it was
denotified. Due to its status, the provision of basic amenities was also
not allowed in the area. Water was being supplied through tankers.
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj V Patil had directed
the officials to ensure that basic facilities are given to the
residents. The area councillor, Jannat Jahan-ul-Haq, along with leaders
of the BSP, met the Administrator several times to take up the issue.
Union Minister Pawan Bansal also went to the area with officers
in tow and assured them that amenities like water supply and sewerage
would be provided.
Mayor Subhash Chawla said that the agenda would be placed in the
meeting of the House and once approved, the work for providing civic
amenities will be started.
