election to seven Municipal Corporations and two Municipalities in
Haryana was held in a peaceful manner except some scuffles at few
places. Three villages in
Panipat district namely Nizampur, Shimla and Mullana boycotted the MC
polls as the voters did not participate in the election process. They
wanted their villages be excluded from the ambit of Municipal
Corporation and kept under the Panchayats.
Even as Deputy Commissioner and senior Police Officers had visited
these villages to urge the voters to exercise their right to vote, they
did not agree to vote. A decision whether to keep these villages under
the Municipal Corporation or under the Panchayat is to be taken by the
Government.
Vir further added that counting of votes for election of seven
municipal corporations will take place on June 4 at 8 am. The electronic
voting machines would be kept in safe custody in the same manner as in
case of elections to Assembly or Lok Sabha constituencies.
CCTV would be installed at the places where the Electronic Voting
Machines have been stored and guarded by the Haryana Armed Police and
Reserved Indian Battalion.

to create some trouble during polling at Municipal Corporation,
