MCD gets nod for 25 new parking sites
Delhiites can now look forward to some relief from their never ending
parking woes with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi getting the go-head
for 25 new parking sites. This along with the earlier approval of 35
surface parking sites is likely to create an additional parking space
for 6,000 cars at any given point in time.
According to MCD Standing Committee chairman Yogender
Chandolia, these sites were given the no objection certificate by the
Delhi Traffic Police this past week following intervention of the Delhi
Lieutenant-Governor’s Office.
The NOCs are given after the traffic police conducts
on-site surveys to make sure vehicular movement is not obstructed in the
area.
The civic body currently has only 116-odd surface
parking lots. With the latest approval by the traffic police, the number
has gone up to 176.
