New Delhi: Claiming that the Corporation has done “a lot for successful completion of the Games projects”, the elected members of the MCD are now demanding free passes for the opening and closing ceremonies and other events.During the MCD standing committee meeting on Wednesday, the deliberative wing members reasoned that if Members of Parliament have been provided free tickets for the Games events, they too should be offered complementary passes.
Following the appeal of the Corporators, Municipal Commissioner KS Mehra said he would forward the request to the Organising Committee. MCD Leader of Opposition Jai Kishan Sharma also urged the Commissioner to arrange a special CWG ticket counter at Town Hall for the councillors.
“The MCD should write to the OC-CWG to open a special ticket counter at MCD HQ. If such counters are being opened across the city, there is no harm in starting one at Town Hall,” said Sharma.
The Commissioner later assured the members of the MCD that he would write to OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi. “Though CWG tickets are available online and at various sites, I will certainly communicate the feelings of the members to the OC,” he said.
