MCD pulled up for dirty community hall
New Delhi: The Delhi Consumer Commission has held that MCD’s failure to keep its community halls neat and clean amounts to deficiency in service and ordered it to shell out Rs 10,000 compensation to a harassed person.
“The vague reply of MCD has been that cleaning of the community hall and toilet was not the duty of the Corporation but of the venue in-charge. Obviously, the explanation was ridiculous……,” the Commission, headed by Justice B A Zaidi, said.
The Commission passed the order on R P Gupta’s plea, seeking Rs 1 lakh compensation for giving a dirty community hall, which forced his guests to leave early without having food. He said that MCD had charged Rs 5,000 for the booking of the hall and still it failed to maintain cleanliness.
