MCD revises norms for jobs to kin of deceased workers
Municipal Corporation of Delhi Standing Committee
Chairman Yogendra Chandolia on Thursday said the kith and kin of the
deceased MCD employees would now be able to apply for a job in the civic
body on compensatory grounds till the age of 40 years. Earlier, this
age limit had been pegged at 32 years.
Mr. Chandolia
said henceforth the widows of the deceased employees will have the final
right to decide who among the dependents should be engaged on
compensatory ground. Earlier, the no objection certificate in this
regard had to be taken from other dependents of the deceased. However,
from now onwards the dependents joining the service will have to give in
writing that he or she would take care of his or her mother for a
lifetime.
Wellbeing of widows
The
aim of the scheme is to ensure the wellbeing of the widows and the next
of kin of the deceased employees. Mr. Chandolia said dependents of the
deceased employee will be given the job on contract, but will be given
casual leave like regular employees in a year. In another major
decision, it has also been decided that the condition of removing these
dependents from the job without assigning any reason would also not be
applicable.
There will also be a relaxation in the maximum age limit and educational qualifications required.
The
Chairman said that discriminating between a son and a daughter is not
only intolerable in any society, but also unconstitutional. He said the
policy has been framed keeping in mind the MCD’s moral obligation of
providing livelihood to the dependents of the deceased.
