MCD trying to find solution for nullah stench
NEW DELHI: On directions from chief minister Sheila Dikshit, the state machinery has been asked to find a solution to the stink emanating from the drain below the Barapullah elevated corridor. The stench has caught the attention of foreign visitors. One of them is learnt to have complained to the CM.
The elevated road may have received a thumbs up from the athletes and delegates but the stink emanating from the drain below, which the Delhi government failed to clean up and DDA didn’t get down to landscaping in time for the Games, has caught the attention of foreign visitors.
Reacting to the complaint over the stink, the CM on Monday asked the chief secretary to find a quick solution. Chief secretary Rakesh Mehta has asked the MCD to step in to fix the problem within the next three to four days.
The MCD will use some biological treatment using granules to remove the stink from the drain. The same treatment was successfully used by the MCD in another drain. Work is likely to begin from Tuesday.
