Meet to plan move against unauthorised hoardings
Chennai Corporation Commissioner will conduct a meeting
on March 28 with all departments concerned to take action against
unauthorised hoardings in the city and remove them.
A
communication received from the Chennai Collector was produced before
the First Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice R.K. Agrawal and Justice
N. Paul Vasanthakumar on Tuesday when a public interest litigation
petition filed by K.R. Ramaswamy alias ‘Traffic’ Ramaswamy, a social
activist, came up for further hearing.
Earlier, the
court had directed the collector to remove all illegal hoardings,
digital banners and placards immediately and take action to penalise
those who violated rules and regulations.
With a view
to obeying the court orders, the collector said she had instructed all
tahsildars to identify and take action to remove all illegal hoardings
and placards in the city.
The Corporation
commissioner had also been requested to provide machinery to taluk
officials to complete the task. The commissioner has proposed to conduct
a meeting with the departments concerned on March 28.
The Bench posted the matter for April 1.
