Meeting with minister turns into trip to Golden Temple for MC staff
The staff members of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC), headed by
MC Commissioner Rahul Tewari, on Monday visited Amritsar after local
bodies minister Anil Joshi summoned them for a ‘personal interaction.’
Later after the meeting, the MC staff got a chance to visit
Golden Temple. “The meeting was quite a long one and there was no better
way to relax than visiting Golden Temple,” one of MC employees told
Newsline.
The team visiting Amritsar included all executive engineers,
superintendent engineers, town planning team and zonal commissioners
along with Commissioner Rahul Tewari.
“It was actually a warning meeting. He made his priorities very
clear to the staff of corporations from different cities of the state.
Everyone has been asked to work in a transparent manner,” said one of
the MC employees on condition of anonymity.
P S Ghuman, zonal commissioner said, “He laid stress on maximum
recovery of property tax and also on popularisation of government’s
policy. It was the first one-to-one interaction with him after he
recently joined as local bodies minister.”
But for many staff members, it a “trip to the Golden Temple”. “It
was the first time we all staff members went to Golden Temple together
on a trip. Otherwise we do not get such chance. It was complete fun,” an
Municipal Corporation employee said.
