Mice menace at Corporation office
Special Correspondent
Thiruvananthapuram: The City Corporation may have to call in pest control experts to end the rodent menace in its headquarters office.
The Corporation Council meeting on Monday was marred by the partial failure of the sound system. Right from the beginning, councillors were frantically jabbing the microphones on their desks and prompting the control room to get the system running. But the best efforts of the control room employees failed to restore it.
A couple of wireless microphones were handed out but the employees had to run around the hall to reach the councillors waiting for their turn to speak.
At the end of the session, the councillors were shown the wires gnawed by rodents. Officials said the rodents have cut through the network of wires crisscrossing the council hall at several places.
The councillors admit that the plush carpeting in the hall could be a safe haven for a small army of mice.
