MIM walks out of GHMC meetingDec. 1: The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen corporators on Wednesday walked out of the GHMC standing committee protesting against the delay in completing civic development works approved by the committee.
The meeting ended abruptly after confirming the revised draft budget estimates of the GHMC for the year 2011-12. The MIM, which has seven members on the 15-member standing committee, said they are not going to attend the committee meetings in future as it was not serving its purpose.
The resolutions passed by the standing committee on various developmental works earlier are not being implemented. Not even 10 per cent of the works have been completed. The GMHC commissioner, Mr Sameer Sharma, owes an the committee an explanation,” Mr Mir Zulfiqar Ali, a corporator of the MIM said.
He said senior officials including the GHMC Commissioner were not attending standing committee meetings. Many resolutions on sanitation, roads, street lights and other works were passed months ago but have not been taken up yet, Ms Aruna, another corporator from MIM, said.
She accused the Mayor, Ms Banda Karthika Reddy, who also heads the committee, of not extending cooperation to the members.
