Mosquito control programme intensified in all wards

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore Corporation has intensified its mosquito control programme.

A release from the civic body said 216 workers had been deployed in all the wards to identify mosquito breeding places and destroy larvae.
Three workers would be assigned to a ward and they would carry out the task of destroying the mosquitoes.
Recently, the workers were engaged in destroying mosquitoes on Boyar Street in Singanallur.
To monitor their work, two entomologists from the office of the Deputy Director of Health Services had been deputed for the purpose.
The mosquito control programme was part of the Corporation’s measures to face the monsoon and prevent diseases that were likely to arise at that time.
The release also said that the Corporation was engaged in educating the public over loudspeakers about mosquito control measures and how they could assist the civic body in its efforts.
Booklets
Corporation school students had also been given booklets.
